There more activity in the library that usual, seeing as one the new Slytherin student had entered to study up on some materials. Even though there was as 'stay silent' policy when it came to talking, students were still whispering to each other, wondering about all the oddities that seemed to surround him. Of course, he paid little attention as he sat down, his size seemingly normal as he opened the book and begun reading.

Svetlana heard the murmurings as she sat, reading in what had been a peaceful mood until this quiet chatter began. Doing her best she ignored it for a few moments, until even the Librarian's insistent hashing noises were too much. With a huff, she shut her book and looked up to see whatever stupid thing these people were so interested in. Her eyes immediately landed on the gargantuan Slytherin. She felt her eyes widen a little in surprise. Well... That was certainly something to talk about.

After reading for several minutes Sylvester- or Sly as he used to be called by his uncle, was bored of the book and stood up. This brought on a few gasp as he showed exactly how massive he seemed. But never caring too much, he picked up his book and headed back into the bookshelves, placing back his book and starting to check the selections that were available.

Svetlana didn't gasp, but she was taken aback by the extreme size of the student. She'd never seen someone so tall. He had to be close to pushing seven feet! To ease her growing curiosity, she stood book in hand, following after with the excuse of putting books away to examine him discreetly.

Sly was a keen observer in his surroundings; always have been since he was a child- so he knew a girl had followed him to the aisle. He didn't say a word as he ran his fingertips over the spines of the books, stopping at one and gently pulling it out. "So, do you need help reaching a book miss?", he asked, casually flipping through the pages.

Svetlana shoved her book back into its place on the shelf. "No, thank you..." She said, slightly embarrassed she'd been discovered. To continue her previous excuse she reached up and grabbed a new book- an advanced herbology text, oh joy, and held it close. "I found what I wanted..."

Sly nodded, closing the book in his hand to fetch for another."Ah, well I'm glad you found it.." He replaced his book and reached for another until he noticed which book the girl had,"Advance Herbology? You can't be anything more than a 5th year; are you trying to get a head start?"

Ah, she was going to be found out. She held the book out to really look at the cover now. "Um... Um, yes. Of course!" She cleared her throat awkwardly.

The giant's expression didn't change as he walked towards her, stopping only a few feet. She probably reached his lower chest once they stood side by side, but he didn't bother bringing up that fact,"You know, unlike most of the other students, you could just talk to me." He was referencing to the constant rumors that were circulating- a few of them even amusing him.

Her brow quirked up in question. "They can't?" It was a question, but it didn't really surprise her- she'd these people in action. They could be very... Stupid at times. He may have been tall, but this Slytherin was just some guy. She'd never been afraid or intimidated by anyone, so talking, when she actually got past her social awkwardness, wasn't difficult.

He nodded, giving a genuine smile,"Well, they don't want to. Too spooked I guess," He softly chuckled as he slid out another book; it was one covering Magical Creatures. "Anyways, I'm Sylvester. But you can call me Sly if it gets to be a bit of a mouthful." He stretched out his hand for her to shake, having equally large but boney hands.

Svetlana held out her exponentionally smaller hand to him, letting out a low chuckle. His name certainly wouldn't be a problem for her."Svetlana." She introduced herself to him.

He nodded and gently shook her hand,"It's nice to meet you Miss Svetlana." As he straightened himself out, he walked back into the open, sitting down on a table and opening his book. He glanced at Svetlana, wondering if she'd tag along.

She followed after slowly. "Nice to meet you as well, Sylvester." She said, sitting down as well.

He smiled contently and started turning the pages, reading over to information and slowly smiling more. He always enjoyed Magical Creatures- to him it was like fairy tales being true.

Svetlana looked down at the book she'd had the fortune to pick up. Great. Her best subject- sarcasm heavily implied. She flipped through the pages not getting a single word.

He looked up from his own book and noticed Svetlana not taking a liking in the book she chosen. Well it'd might of been obvious, she just made up a reason on the spot to talk to him. But he chuckled,"I'm guessing you're not really into herbology that much.."

"Not really..." She admitted. "I've more of a black thumb than green..." she'd been lucky none of her exams this year had been graded a T: troll.

He snickered; he was acing most, if not all, his classes- even his NEWT Herbology."Well, that's okay. You don't really need an OWL in Herbology if you're going to go for some normal job. I personally am just fine plants; haven't killed one yet."

"I'm not sure what I want to do, but I know it has nothing to do with plants." She shut the book and set it on the table, effectively shoving it away.

Sly laughed again, drawings some attention back towards them by the other students,"Well that's a relief to hear Miss. Plant's aren't exactly the most interesting thing for me either. Although creatures are. Hippogriffs, unicorns, you name it."

"Really? They're interesting, I will admit, but I'm more into the spells and Charms aspect of magic." She stood, retrieving her discarded book to replace it on the shelf where it belonged.

"Charms and such? Well that's all fun but it's nice to relax in nature. I mean, have you seen a dragon up close before? It interesting seeing how they're bodies work- plus with all the material that could be collect by them for potions-" Sly stopped himself from rambling on too much, worried that he might overwhelm his new friend. "Anyways...just remember to study up a bit on what you're weak on- although you're a Ravenclaw so I'm assuming you know your stuff pretty well."

"Mhm." Svetlana nodded to the Ravenclaw remark.

Sly stood up and closed the book, glancing around the library before making his way back to set his book back. "Well, I've enjoyed the chat Miss Svetlana but I sort of have to catch a meeting with a few teachers. I don't want to flunk this school year of course." He returned to her and have a slight bow towards her, patting her head and walking off. The encounter was brief, but he meet a nice acquaintance this time.

"Goodbye, Sylvester." She said, making a small face as he pat her head. She set her book back on the shelf and gathered her own things to head to Ravenclaw tower.
This is technically their first encounter
